Martin Schlink

Martin Schlink completed a Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science at the Technical University Darmstadt and obtained a Research Master’s degree (cum laude) in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Radoud University in Nijmegen. He joined the group as an intern in 2024, where he worked with Mariana Carneiro de Andrade on the SpeakUp!2.0 project. This intervention study assesses the use of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) to enhance the efficacy of exposure therapy in individuals with social anxiety. He concluded his internship with a thesis, which examined the relationship between reversal learning and fear reactivity during exposure sessions.

After finishing his Master’s degree, Martin joined the EPAN group as a PhD candidate in 2025. Under the supervision of Saskia Koch, he is currently working on the Social Dynamics project, which investigates multiple modalities of flexibility in socially anxious individuals. His research combines hyperscanning, behavioral tasks, and computational modelling to explore how socially anxious individuals form shared understanding, align with partners, and adapt to changing communicative or learning demands.
