Marta Gómez Vargas

Marta is a PhD candidate at the EPAN lab, and her research focuses on understanding how ovarian hormone fluctuations impact certain neurocognitive processes underlying mental health, such as emotion regulation or effort-based decision making. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Sevilla (her hometown), followed by a Master’s degree in Behavioural Science at Radboud University. During her master’s internship at the CAN lab, supervised by Eliana Vassena, Marta investigated stress modulation of effort-reward decision-making, laying the groundwork for her current research interests and gaining expertise in the integration of behaviour, pupillometry, and fMRI. Prior to her PhD, Marta gained valuable experience in the field of Female and Reproductive Health as a Research Data Scientist at Clue by BioWink, and she continues to work with them alongside her current research project.
