Hi! My name is Lou Mier. I have finished my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (MSc) in 2025, where I interned at Sinai Centre, focusing on diagnosing and treating patients with PTSD and comorbidity. Now, as a student of the research master Behavioural Science, I am interning at the D.U.S.T. project at the Police Academy under supervision of Floris Klumpers. My aim of the research project is to see if, and if so, to what extent, breathing techniques aimed at regulating the stress system can serve as a preventive tool against developing stress symptoms after exposure to stressful events in the line of work.
In my other work as a research assistant, I study the role of (shared) awe in romantic relationships together with Matteo Perini at the BSI. Additionally, I study how the relationships and dynamics between victims, perpetrators, and bystanders of sexual assault change and how that change develops over time after disclosure. Here, I collaborate with Iva Bicanic at the UMC Utrecht.
